What after the 10 Days of Dhul-Hijjah?

“A sign that your good deeds have been accepted is that you do more good deeds after that.” [Ibn Rajab]

We have to check ourselves, after these 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah, are we still performing good deeds?

Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala) has warned us from being like the woman in Surat An-Nahl Verse 92:

وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّتِي نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِن بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَاثًا تَتَّخِذُونَ أَيْمَانَكُمْ دَخَلًا بَيْنَكُمْ

And be not like her who undoes the thread which she has spun after it has become strong, by taking your oaths a means of deception among yourselves…’’ Read the rest of this entry

Sunnah after the Congregational Prayer ‏– Sunday 15th Dhul-Hijjah,1434 ( 20th October, 2013)

First: The Ma’moom (the person following the Imaam) leaving the prayer place or the Masjid immediately after the Tasleem, before the Imaam turns away from the direction of the Qiblah.

Many of those who offer the congregational prayer commit the mistake of leaving their places and heading to the gate of the Masjid as soon as the Imaam makes the Tasleem.

Shaikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (Rahimahullaah) said: “The Ma’moom should not leave his praying place till the Imaam turns (his face) away from the direction of the Qiblah. The Imaam should not sit facing the Qiblah after the Tasleem except for a period needed to recite the Istighfaar (seeking Allaah’s forgiveness) thrice and say “Allaahumma Anatas-Salaam wa minkas-Salaam, Tabaarakta yaa dhal-Jalaali wal-Ikraam.” When the Imaam moves away from his place, one may leave, or if he wills he could stay and remember Allaah.” [Al-Fatawa, vol. 22, p. 505] Read the rest of this entry

Ruling on fasting on Days of Tashriq

Q1: What are the Days of Tashriq on which we were prohibited by the Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) to fast?

A:  Days of Tashriq on which we were prohibited by the Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) to fast are: 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah.

May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

Q2 : Brother `A. `A. H. From Buraydah says, “My mother, may Allah grant her success, usually fasts on the three White Days (the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth days of every lunar month). As usual, the thirteenth day of Dhul-Hijjah is the third day of Days of Tashriq (11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah). Should she fast on this day or be satisfied with the fourteenth and fifteenth only of the month of Dhul-Hijjah?

A: It is not permissible to fast on the thirteenth of Dhul Hijjah, because the Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) forbade fasting on the days of Tashriq saying: These days are days of eating, drinking, and remembrance of Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He). Fasting on the Days of Tashriq is only permissible for those who are unable to offer Hady (sacrificial animal offered by pilgrims) if they are observing Tamattu` Hajj (`Umrah during the months of Hajj followed by Hajj in the same year with a break in between) or Qiran Hajj (combining Hajj and `Umrah without a break in between) according to what Al-Bukhari (may Allah confer mercy upon him) related on the authority of `A’ishah and Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that they said, No one is permitted to fast on the days of Tashriq except a person who cannot find (or afford) Hady. However, it is permissible for her to fast on the fourteenth and fifteenth if she can. It is better to fast on the sixteenth or any other day of Dhul-Hijjah in order to complete the three days. This is because the Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) advised a group of his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to fast on three days of every month and this was not restricted to the white days but it is better to fast them.  May Allah grant us success.

Q3: If a person was obliged to fast for expiation, owing to his inability to offer Hady (sacrificial animal offered by pilgrims); may he fast during the three days of Tashriq?

A: You should fast these three days, if you are a pilgrim for this is a license for pilgrims, who did not fast and those who were unable to offer Hady in particular. Otherwise, the Days of Tashriq (11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah) are intended for eating and drinking and it is not permissible to fast during these days except for the people mentioned above who were unable to offer Hady during Hajj as it is allowable for them to fast these three days in particular and after returning home they should fast seven days in addition.
