The Name of Allah Al Qaadir, Al Qadeer & Al Muqtadeer (Part 5) – Sunday 11th Dec 2011

The Impact of Allah’s  Ability (and Power)

Shaikh as-Sa’dee (Rahimahullaah):

He is the One Who has complete, perfect power and ability.

  • By His Power He brought everything into existence
  • By it (His Power) He arranges and disposes all the affairs
  • By it He fashioned and perfected the creation. (by bringing the creation into existence and providing it with all what they need in their existence.)
  • By it (His Power) He brings to life and causes to die
  • By it He will resurrect the servants (the mankind and Jinn) for their recompense – rewarding the one Who did good with His good (benevolence) and the one who worked evil with His Hell-Fire.

He is the One Who when He wills a thing to be He merely says to it “Be” and it is.

  • By His Power and Ability He turns the hearts and directs them to whatsoever He wills and wants.

He guides whomever He wills and misguides whomever He wills, He makes the believer a believer and make a kaafir , a kaafir, and make the righteous, righteous and make the wicked, wicked.

Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala) said in Surat al-Mumtahanah, verse 7:

عَسَى اللَّهُ أَن يَجْعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَ الَّذِينَ عَادَيْتُم مِّنْهُم مَّوَدَّةً وَاللَّهُ قَدِيرٌ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

“Perhaps Allah will put, between you and those to whom you have been enemies among them, affection. And Allah is competent, and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”

It is as if Allah (Subahanaahu wa Ta’ala) says “O Believer! do not despair of disbelievers reverting to Iman. Allah is Able to turn the hearts from state to another.

This verse was pointing to the good news of reverting some of the disbelievers who were enemies to the muslims at the time of the Prophet (Salla Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam).

Accordingly never despair from the guidance of someone. No matter how much you see his enmity, deviation or mockery contempt. Be patient because Allah is able to guide him by bringing into existence the means for his guidance, maybe through an event that he goes through (a problem) and then his instinct calls him to be guidance or his mind calls him to guidance.

Allah is able to turn the hearts, therefore the Prophet (Salla Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) used to invoke

“O turner of hearts, make my heart firm upon your religion!”

An Important Rule (Precept)

The Will of Allaah is according to the Wisdom of Allah.

The evidence for this can be seen in Surat al-Insan, verse 30-31

“And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.”

“He admits whom He wills into His mercy; but the wrongdoers – He has prepared for them a painful punishment.”

The word “whomever He wills” can be misunderstood by the one who has no knowledge about Allah, the person may think that the will of Allah has no relation with wisdom like the will of the creation (unstable, changeable)

Another impact of Allah’s perfect  ability and power is that no one is able to encompass or comprehend anything of His knowledge except what He wills to teach it to him.

By Allah’s Perfect Ability and Power, He created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six days and nothing of fatigue touched him [as mentioned in Surat al Qaaf, verse 38]

None of His creation or anything escapes Him nor make Him fail, but rather they are in His Grip wherever they may be.

Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala) says in Surat Faatir, verse 44:

“Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? And they were greater than them in power. But Allah is not to be caused failure by anything in the heavens or on the earth. Indeed, He is ever Knowing and Competent.”

They were greater in power and in wealth and children. they built the earth up but when the torment had come to them, all this power did not help them or benefit them.

Many women or people complain about the tyranny of  a powerful man, their statement indicates weak belief in Allah’s name Al-Qadeer.

Allah’s Ability is sound from fatigue, tiredness or incapacity. Due to His perfect ability, everything is subdued to Him, under His control and disposal. Whatever He will, will happen and whatever He wills not, it will not happen.

therefor, never be deceived by Allah’s dealing with wrong doers or the oppressors or the tyrants with His Hilm (forbearance). Don’t even think that they can escape from Allah’s grip or His Punishment. Allah is Able to inflict them with punishment. But Allah is forbearing (Haleem).

He (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala) shows them in the same time the impact of His Ability and Power in order for them to take a lesson and be awakened, but because of the sins of the hearts or the death of the hearts, these incidents will have no affect on them.

Allah sends signs to show His slaves His Ability. he sends us

  • Universal signs
  • Textual signs (In His book) Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala) mentions about His Ability over the ancient people when they transgressed and rebelled and belied His Messenger.

Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala) says in Surat al Fatir , verse 44:

“Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? And they were greater than them in power. But Allah is not to be caused failure by anything in the heavens or on the earth. Indeed, He is ever Knowing and Competent.”

Shaikh us Sa’dee (Rahimahullaah) said: “Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala) incites to travel in the land (by heart and body) and consider (see) what was the evil consequence of those who belied the Messengers (how Allah destroyed them completely, and a similar (end waits) the disbelievers) how they lost everything after living in luxury and being so numerous and so well equipped. and having so much wealth and children. all that was of no avail to them and could not protect them in the slightest from the punishment of Allah when His command had come. ” [Tayseer al -Kareem & Ibn al Katheer]

  • Nothing is impossible for Him when He wants it to happen in the heavens or on the heavens and the earth. He knows all that exists and is Able to do all things, because of His Perfect Knowledge and Power.
  • Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala) mentioned the Wisdom behind delaying the punishment. He mentioned His Perfect Hilm (forbearance) and intense respite for the criminals and wrong doers.

He (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala)

“And If Allah were to punish for that which they earned (of sins), He would not leave a moving creature on the surface of the earth.”

which means if He were to punish them for all of their sins, He would destroy all the people of the earth and all that they own of livestock and crops.

We should fear the impact of His Power and Ability indicates the soundness of your heart. And if Allah (Subanaahu wa Ta’ala) showed you signs that indicate His Power and Ability and you did not reflect or your heart is not affected them this indicates that the heart is sick or dead.

Due to His Perfect Power and Ability, everything is subdued His Command and under His disposal whatever He wills, it will happen and whatever He will not, it won’t happen.
