The relation between the guidance and misguidance with the will of Allah (Azza Wa Jal)
There are many texts in the Qur’an in which Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala) related the guidance with His Will, such as
Surat An An’am, Verse 125:
“And Whomsoever Allah wills to guide, He opens his breast to Islam, and Who so ever He wills to send astray, He makes his breast closed..”
Surat al-Muddath-thir, Verse 31:
“Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills.”
Surat al An’am,Verse 39
“Allah sends astray whom He wills and He guides on the Straight Path whom He wills”
There are other texts which indicate that the slave also has will. Evidences:
Surat al-Kahf, Verse 29:
“And Say: “The Truth is from your Lord, Then Whosoever wills, let him believe; and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve.”
Is Iman (faith) and disbelief the choice of the slave? or is it following the Will of the Lord?
From the previous verses, it is understood that the slave has choice and will and ability. The Creator of this will and ability is Allah (Azza wa Jal).
The creation will not have the will except by the will of Allah. Allah (Azza wa Jal) has explained this in Surat at-Takweer), Verse 27,28,29:
“Verily this (the Qur’an) is no less than a reminder to (all) the Alaameen (Mankind and Jinn)”
“To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight”
“The Lord of Alameen (Mankind, Jinn and all that exists)”
But when will Allah’s will to guide a man and open for him the gates of guidance/ or close the gates of guidance?
The answer is in Surat al Layl, Verse 5 – 10:
فَأَمَّا مَن أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى
“As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, and believers in Al Husna. We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness)”
“But he who is greedy and thinks himself self-sufficient and belies al Husna. We will make smooth for him the path for evil.”
Also Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala) says in Surat as Saff (61:5)
“So when they turned every (from the path of Allah), Allah turned their hearts away (from the right path).
So the reason behind the misguidance of the slave is himself.
So your test is your will that is established in your heart.
you find the slave wills to do evil (after persistence) Allah will create in him the ability to the evil. And whosoever wills to do good and seeks the means of goodness , being keen and works hard, then Allah will make ease for him the path to Yusra.
As The Prophet (Salla Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: ” Work and do the deeds, for the everyone has been made easy to do the deeds that he has been created for.“
The Companions become happy with this answer (after they asked the Prophet (Salla Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam): “Since everything has been written, should they reply on that and leave working)”
Why they became happy? Becuse they knew that if the gates of goodness have been opened and made easy for them and they took the advantage of these chances seeking Allah’s countenance. This is an indication of their good end.
