Impact of Allah’s Ability in Surat Ar Room, Verse 30:54:
“Allah is the one who created you from weakness. Then made after weakness, strength. Then made after strength, weakness and white hair. He creates what He wills, and He is the Knowing, the Competent.”
It is Allah Who created you in a state of weakness, then gave you strength after weakness. Then after this strength, He gave you weakness and grey hair. He creates what He wills (He is able to do all things).
Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) mentions about His Vast Knowledge, Great Ability and Perfect Wisdom. Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) points out how man passes through different stages of creation, one phase after the other.
Mankind was originally created from dust, then from nutfah, then from a clot, then from a lump of flesh, and then his soul was breathed into him. After a fixed period of time he emerges from his mother’s womb, weak, thin and powerless.
Then he grows up little by little until he becomes a child, and then reaches the stages of puberty, then a young man to adulthood; this stage is from weakness to strength.
Now he begins to get older, reaching middle age, then old age and senility; this stage is from strength to weakness.
He loses his power of movement and ability to fight; his hair turns grey and characteristics, inward and outward, begin to change.
Among Allah’s wisdom is:
- to show the slave how weak he is without Him.
- to draw the attention of His slave to how his strength is surrounded with two state of weaknesses and that he is deficient. Had it not been for Allah giving him this strength, he would not reach or attain any strength and ability.
- if He were to give man increasing strength (continuous), he would transgress and become arrogant and insolent.
In addition to that, of Allah’s (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) wisdom, is that He reminds the slave of their weakness in order to know His Perfect Ability and strength, which is continuous, by which He creates whatsoever He wills and disposes the affairs by it. No fatigue nor weakness nor deficiency touches Him in any aspect.
Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala) has created us to worship Him alone. The whole religion is based on worshipping Allah. We will not be able to worship our Creator without His mercy; He has blessed us with the ability and strength.
Do not think that Allah tests us in this life on our strength; rather He tests us on how much help we seek from Him in order to worship Him. Allah decrees events to test our Isti’ana. We are all weak, poor, and incapable; we should seek aid from Allah the Almighty, our Creator, the All Able. When we seek His help in every matter, Allah will open our hearts and send His blessings in our time, health, body, etc.
Look at those who relied on themselves in getting up for the night prayer or fasting- Allah disgraced them and they were unable to continue performing the good deeds. During Hajj and Umrah, we see some old people performing every ritual with ease, whereas, some young people struggle to continue with performing the acts of rituals due to tiredness.
Allah gives strength to whom He wills and He takes it away from whom He wills. So what prevents us from seeking Allah’s help??
