Allah’s Names: Al Qadeer, Al Qaadir , Al Muqtadir (Part 11) – 15th April 2012

These names of Allah are one of the greatest names of Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) and we have to live these names in our daily lives.
In Surat Al Baqarah, Allah mentioned the impact of His ability, giving life to the dead in 3 stories.
- The story of the cow
- The story of the Donkey (Prophet Uzair (‘Alayhissallaam)
- Story of Ibrahim (‘Alayhisallaam) – when he asked Allah to give proof about giving life to the dead.
Allah (Subhanaahu waTa’ala) didn’t make himself unknown to us; He tells us about himself throughout the whole Quran.
Because of Allah’s Ability (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) , He already decreed everyone’s fate 50,000 years before the creation. Whoever believes in the decree of Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala), then his handhold is considered the trustworthy handhold but whoever doesn’t believe in the decree, then his Tawheed is broken. If you don’t believe in Allah then you deny one of his attributes of Asmaa-wa- Sifaat which in turn denies Allah.
What should we do when Allah’s Decree comes to us?
The Sahaba (Radhia Allaahu ‘Anhum) asked the Prophet (salla Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) and he asked them to work hard. He said that Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) made it easy for everyone; deeds that will take them to Paradise. The result of your effort is unseen now but it will be known when you enter paradise. We have to work hard and do well as much as you can. The first step has to be from you then Allah will bless it for you.
On the Authority of Abu Dhar, The Prophet (salla Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) said: “He who draws close to Me a hand’s span, I will draw close to him an arm’s length. And whoever draws near Me an arm’s length, I will draw near him a fathom’s length. And whoever comes to Me walking, I will go to him running. You should rely on Allah for your actions.” [Hadith Qudsi, ]
You have been given the option in this life to choose between good or not good. If you had to choose good food or bad food, you will choose the good food. Then why don’t you use your mind to choose the path to paradise? When it comes to the religious matters, we always say if Allah wills or if Allah decrees, but when it comes to the worldly things, we say that Allah has given us the mind to choose good for ourselves.
Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) commanded us to do many good deeds and to take an action when the decree comes. Your action should be preceded with Isti’ana (seeking help from Allah)
As soon as you rely upon Allah, He will open your heart and give you the strength to do the good deeds.
When you get up at times, you feel heaviness in your heart which constricts you from doing the good deeds. This constriction is from the Shaaytan and it depends on you to remove it. As soon as you say La hawla wa la quwata illa billah, you will notice immediately, this heaviness will be removed. You will be amazed at how much you can do! You will see the affect in this life and the impact in the hereafter. This is a secret the Muslims are given.
“La Hawla wa la quwata illa billaah” (There is no power nor strength except with Allah) is one of the treasures of paradise. We often rely on our strength and power to do most of the things. That’s why we fail. But people who rely on Allah (Subhanaahu wa Ta’ala), are those who are successful!
“La Hawla wa la quwata illa billaah” should be said before taking any action. Before you do anything, say it and free yourself from your power and your strength.
What makes the people forget to say ““La Hawla wa la quwata illa billaah”? Why is their reliance on Allah low?
This is because people think they are self sufficient. When Allah’s Blessings (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) fall upon us, we forget that it is from Allah (Subhaanahu waTa’ala).
When a rich man is hungry, he will order the servant to bring the food, while the poor person who doesn’t have, will ask Allah.
How many of us say ‘bismillah’ before doing anything? We are missing Isti’anah in our life, asking for Allah’s help before we do anything.
In every detail in our life, we should ask for Allah’s Help (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala).
When the decree of Allah falls upon us, we should:
- Know that you are under test
- Rely on Allah (Isti’ana)
- Work Hard
- The test in worldly life will be upon the hearts. Allah is watching your hearts. What is established in your heart when the decree of Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) comes?
- Knowledge about Him (Knowledge about His Names, Attributes,)
Allah’s Decree (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) always has a reason behind it, so don’t despair or feel bad if there is a delay in what you wanted or in your relief. Never feel deprived of Allah’s Mercy (Subhaanahu wa Ta’ala) because it will surely come.
