Allah’s Wisdom in His Commands and Legislation (Legal laws)
Shaikh Abdur-Razzaq Al-Badr (Hafidhahullaah) in his book Fiqh-ul Asmaa’ wrote:
“The impact of Allah’s wisdom in His commands and laws is that He had ordained laws. He sent down books, scriptures and also Messengers to make His servants know Him and then to worship Him. Knowing Allah and worshiping Him is the noblest favour that Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala) bestows upon His creation.”
Knowing Allah by His names and attributes is an honour from Allah. It is an honour for you to be a slave to Allah, your Creator. We show humility to Allah, our Creator and our Lord, not to humans like ourselves. When we know all the attributes of Allah you will love Him and your heart will be attached to Him and no one else. Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala) tells us to attach our hearts to Him and not the people because they will die one day, while He is The Ever-living. When you know Allah you will deify Him! The Shaikh then says “It is the perfect happiness, success, and joy for the heart to know Allah. In fact, it is the only means to attain the eternal happiness even till the Day of Judgement, and that is when you know who Allah is and you worship Him.”
Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala) tells you that He is one who created you for a noble purpose; to know Him, worship Him alone, and as a result of which you will be rewarded with eternal stay in paradise. Believing in Allah’s Oneness and worshiping Him without associates will make you among the best of creation in this life.
Surat Sad: 27,
And We created not the Heaven and the Earth and all that is between them without purpose! That is the consideration of those who disbelieve! Then woe to those who disbelieve (in Islamic Monotheism) from the Fire!
If the disbelievers were to contemplate in the creation of the Heavens and the Earth, they will reach to the conclusion that for sure the One who created all this did not do so in vain, but for a purpose, which is for them to know Him.
Surat Al-Mu’minūn: 115,
أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ عَبَثًا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ
“Did you think that We had created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?”
Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala) is The True King. It is He who created us and legislated the laws for us. He will judge us on the Day of Judgement, rewarding the good doer and punishing the evil doer, according to His Perfect Wisdom. It is the disbelievers who think Allah created the heavens and the earth in vain.
The Shaikh went on to say “If you contemplate in the commands of Allah and His laws, you will find that it comprises of matters that benefit the people. All of Allah’s commands are beneficial as they lead to beautiful conduct, noble characters, righteous deeds, pure acts of obedience and complete guidance. As for His prohibitions, they all agree with the intellect and sound instinct (fitrah) because Allah didn’t forbid except what is harmful to our minds, manners, honours, bodies or properties, either all of these, or one of these.”
The beauty of Islam can be seen in the Islamic laws. There is a book by Shaikh As-Sa’dee (Rahimahullaah) called Mahasin -ud- deen, which has been translated to English as, The Merits of Islam. He mentioned the benefits of the lawful matters and harm of the unlawful matters. We have the best laws as they have been set by Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala), The Creator who has the perfect attributes and not humans, who are deficient. We should be proud of our Islamic laws. We don’t need proofs from the scientists before we believe that our laws are the best and have been set based on Allah’s Perfect Wisdom. One of the most important merits of Islam is that Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala) set the rights for every individual in order, and if the order of rights is disrupted there will be chaos in the society. But due to the weak belief in the sharee’ah, in the hearts of the people, you will notice that there are lots of violations in the rights.
Refer to Surah Hujurat in which Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala) tells us about the construction of the Muslim society, the divine basis upon which the society should be established. Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aala) didn’t enjoin these laws except for the good of the humans. If these laws are not applied in the community, there will be in chaos. We must abide by the laws of Allah and will be rewarded by Him if we do so. You will find that in every detail in Islam there is a mercy for us, which we must praise and thank Allah for.
