Continuously Seek Knowledge In order to Increase and Preserve your Faith- 22nd November 2015
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ إيمَانًا دَائِمًا وَعِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَهَدْيًا قَيِّمًا
‘O Allaah! I ask you for abiding Imaan, beneficial knowledge & upright guidance.’
Beneficial knowledge which is knowledge that you learn and act upon is what makes your faith continuous.
Continuous faith requires continuous knowledge.
If you stop seeking knowledge, your faith will decrease.
This supplication indicates that there is faith which is discontinuous. There is no guarantee that the faith in our hearts will remain until the end of our lives.
If you don’t add wood to fire, it will extinguish. In Surat An-Nisaa’, Allah describes the hypocrites as having believed, then disbelieved. Since they didn’t take the means of increasing their faith, decreased until it was entirely removed from their hearts and they became disbelievers.
The Intentions of the Student of Knowledge should be:
1) To remove ignorance from himself
2) To remove ignorance from others
3) To protect the Shari’ah from innovations and from being forgotten.
