Acting Upon and Teaching Others What Allah Has Taught You- 13th December 2015
It is a blessing from Allah that He made the means of seeking forgiveness easy, as there is no one from the sons of Adam except that he commits sins.
The Prophet (Salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “No people sit together to remember Allah and then they disperse except that it is said to them, “Disperse (or get up) for you have been forgiven.”
(Reported in Ahmad)
Have these intentions every time you come to class:
1) To acquire knowledge
2) To have your sins forgiven
3) To increase your faith
Allah said in Surat Al-Mujadila Verse 11:
يا ايها الذين امنوا اذا قيل لكم تفسحوا في المجالس فافسحوا يفسح الله لكم واذا قيل انشزوا فانشزوا يرفع الله الذين امنوا منكم والذين اوتوا العلم درجات والله بما تعملون خبير
O you who have believed, when you are told, “Space yourselves” in assemblies, then make space; Allah will make space for you. And when you are told, “Arise,” then arise; Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
Allah didn’t specify these degrees because people vary in degrees according to their faith and knowledge. The more a person increases in knowledge and faith the more his degree with Allah will increase.
When a person dies, the knowledge he imparted to others will continue to benefit him, whereas the money he collected ceases to benefit him (unless it’s spent in charity).
In addition to this, knowledge doesn’t need to be kept in a safe like money does. Knowledge is in your heart and is with you wherever you go. You don’t have to be worried about anyone stealing it from you. No matter how much you spend of it and impart to others, it will never reduce, rather it will increase.
“…Allah supports His slave as long as the slave is supportive of his brother; and he who treads the path in search of knowledge, Allah makes that path easy, leading to Jannah for him…” (Muslim)
The more you spend from your knowledge, the more Allah will increase in it for you. – Ibn ‘Uthaymeen
One of the strongest means of securing knowledge is teaching it to others.
Whenever you learn something, apply it and teach it to others. When you do this, your knowledge and faith will increase and accordingly, your degree with Allah will be higher. These are all linked together.
When we say teach it to others, it could be teaching it to your children, husband, family members, or whomever you meet. Share whatever you learn.
When you teach others, Allah will establish the knowledge in your heart and teach you more.
The best man in Allah’s sight is the one whom He had taught, then he acted upon that knowledge and imparted it to others.
Thank Allah for opening the gate for you to acquire knowledge. There are only a few people who appreciate this blessing although it is the best blessing after Islam and Eeman. Be keen to learn more.
