The Rememberance of Allah & Seeking Knowledge – 17th Rabi’ al-Awwal 1437
Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Is not the world cursed and everything in it? It is so except for the remembrance of Allah and what facilitates it, the scholar and the seeker of knowledge.”
Instead of using the dunya to come closer to Allah, we busy ourselves with it. We will leave this world soon, so what benefit will it be for you if you didn’t use it to seek the hereafter?
Everything in this world is cursed except for:
1)Remembrance of Allah and what facilitates it
Remembrance of Allah isn’t limited to statements of the tongue. Remembrance of Allah can be you abandoning a sin for His sake. It can be remembering Him with your heart.
In order to be included in this, make everything you do for the sake of Allah.
If you are a doctor, do your job with the intention of helping your community, for Allah’s sake.
2)The scholar and the seeker of knowledge
A Scholar is the person who has knowledge, implements it, then teaches it to others.
This Hadith emphasizes the virtue of seeking knowledge and teaching it to others. The people who do so have a very high status with Allah.
We have to try our best to act upon what we learn. If you don’t act upon your knowledge it won’t be considered beneficial knowledge. Don’t just learn and fill your notebook with notes. When you reach home, revise it, implement it and teach it to others, which is the best ways of establishing knowledge in your heart.
We are responsible for what we learn. Allah chose us from amongst all the people and made us listen to His word. It is a great honour to be among those whome He chose.
