The Name of Allah: Al-‘Azeez (PART X) – 30th Rabi’ al-Awwal 1437
The victory which we all seek is in the hands of Allah, Al-‘Azeez Al-Hakeem.
Surat Ali ‘Imran Verse 126
And Allah made it not except as [a sign of] good tidings for you and to reassure your hearts thereby. And victory is not except from Allah , the Exalted in Might, the Wise –
This part of the Surah is about the Battle of Badr. In Verse 126, Allah mentions the means of attaining victory:
بلى ان تصبروا وتتقوا وياتوكم من فورهم هذا يمددكم ربكم بخمسة الاف من الملائكة مسومين
Yes, if you remain patient and conscious of Allah and the enemy come upon you [attacking] in rage, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels having marks [of distinction]
1) Patience 2) Taqwa
When a woman is told to take off her hijab or else she will not be employed, she needs to remain patient and fear Allah. This is a test for her. If she takes it off and gives herself excuses, how does she expect Allah to support and help her?
Surat Al-Anfal Verse 10
And Allah made it not but good tidings and so that your hearts would be assured thereby. And victory is not but from Allah. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
Allah is able to give victory if He wills, without anyone’s help. All He has to do is say be and it will be. Did He not cast fear in the hearts of the enemies of the Prophet ﷺ and they became were victorious without fighting? And in the Battle of Badr, The Prophet ﷺ and his companions were few in number. The Quraish had a lot of soldiers and many more camels. But in the end, the Prophet ﷺ was victorious. Allah sent help.
Why are the disbelievers sometimes allowed to overpower the believers?
Surat Muhammad Verse 4
So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens. That [is the command]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allah – never will He waste their deeds.
Allah lets us fight each other to test us; To see who is truthful and who is not, who really believes and who doesn’t.
Surat Al-Haj Verse 40
[They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right – only because they say, “Our Lord is Allah .” And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
Even though you may have no means to attain victory, Allah will support you. However, you should do the required in order to attain His support.
Allah doesn’t need any support so what does it mean to support Allah?
A person should help and support Allah by establishing and practicing the religion, not fearing the enemy, making Da’wah etc.
Those who fight nowadays and call it Jihad have got it all wrong. If you want Allah to help you, then all that’s required from you is to establish the religion. Start with yourself; practice Tawheed, pray on time, call people to Islam. Be a role model. If you do this, then Allah will support you.
Surat Muhammad Verse 7
O you who have believed, if you support Allah , He will support you and plant firmly your feet.
If Allah opens the gate of Da’wah for you, take advantage of it and know that if you don’t support the religion, Allah is rich and in no need of you. He can replace you with others who will support it.
Surat Ar-Rum Verses 2 – 6
The Byzantines have been defeated
In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome.
Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice
In the victory of Allah. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
[It is] the promise of Allah. Allah does not fail in His promise, but most of the people do not know.
When the Prophet ﷺ and his companions were in Makkah, the Romans (who were People of the Book) were defeated by the Persians. The Muslims were upset at their loss.
Allah then promised them victory.
On that day the believers will rejoice in the victory of Allah.
Allah gives victory and support to whomever He wills. If He wills He can honour this person, and humiliate that person, and defeat the other. He is the One who grants the kingdom to whomever He wills and takes it from whomever He wills. Because He is العزيز. It’s up to His will, not the people.
He is Ar-Raheem; He is merciful with the believers, and creates the means of their happiness.
This is a promise from Allah. And Allah is Al-‘Azeez;- He never fails in keeping His promises.
But most of the people do not know that Allah is Al-‘Azeez and that He may let the disbelievers overpower the believers for a while, as a test. They don’t know that the end result is in Allah’s hands, and He promised the end for the believers. This is why they think bad about and expect evil from Allah.
