Category Archives: How to be pleased with Allah?
An important result of studying Allaah’s Names and Attributes is to be pleased with Allaah. Allaah grants us many favors and blessings, but some people do not realize Allaah’s favors. Instead, they may see Allaah’s favors as afflictions (نقمة). Why? Because they look at the blessings of Allaah superficially. They deal with Allaah’s favors with ingratitude. Hence, Allaah may remove that blessing from them, whether it’s a religious or worldly favor.
A person who is pleased with Allaah will receive two things:
a) Allaah will be pleased with him, and if Allaah is pleased with him, his life will be a good life.
b) He will have a tranquil soul.

Mu’adh ibn Jabal (رضي الله عنه) used to say:
“Acquire knowledge because seeking it is worship. Reviewing it is glorifying Allaah. Researching it is Jihad. Teaching it to the ignorant is charity. Serving the scholars is a way of drawing near to Allaah because knowledge is the path of ascension to the stations of Paradise. It is a companion in isolation and a comrade in distant lands. It speaks to you in solitude. It is a guide to prosperity, a shield against adversity, and a weapon against enemies. It beautifies one among friends and is nearness amongst strangers. With it Allaah elevates people and makes them guides and leaders of good, whose footsteps are followed, whose actions are looked at and imitated, and whose opinions are stopped at.“ [Abu Nu’aym in Al-Hilyah]
Az-Zuhri said: “There is nothing like knowledge for the one who wants to worship Allaah.”
In our previous post, we discussed the 3 reasons that causes the displeasure with Allah. Among these reasons is ‘Magnifying the missing matter in our lives’. We continue with the reasons that causes the slave to magnify the missing matter in his/her lives.
The third reason for magnifying the deficient or missing matter is: Ignorance
- Ignorance about the fact that life can continue without the worldly things
- Ignorance about the fact that we can succeed in the way Allah wants and not in the way we want
- Ignorance about the fact that whatever Allah gave you is the best for you. Read the rest of this entry
The Prophet Muhammad (Salla-Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Verily the greater reward is with the greater trial . Verily when Allaah the Most High loves a people He tests them. Therefore, whoever is pleased, then he will have the pleasure (of Allaah), and whoever is angry, then for him is the anger (of Allaah).“ [Graded Hasan (good) by At-Tirmidhî]
Let us first find what causes the displeasure with Allah.
1- Hawaa (Desire)
You like certain situations, matters, etc you wish for something, and you will plan for it, then when the Qadar of Allah comes contrary to what you wished, either you will be pleased or not pleased. When you are pleased this is a good indication. But most of the time we are angry. This anger is and indication of displeasure.
Allah the All-Wise, the All-Knower of what is good for you, when you planned for yourself, He planned something else for you telling you that this is better for you. Then why are you angry and unhappy and not pleased? Read the rest of this entry
