We praise Allah abundantly for allowing us to reach the month of Sha’ban; a month which most people do not pay attention to.
Usamah bin Zaid (Radia-Allahu ‘anhu) said: “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I do not see you fasting any month as much as Sha’ban.’ He said: ‘That is a month to which people do not pay much attention, between Rajab and Ramadan. It is a month in which the deeds are taken up to the Lord of the worlds, and I like that my deeds be taken up when I am fasting.“‘ [An-Nasaa’i]
Because the month of Sha’ban falls between the month of Rajab (which is a sacred month) and the month of Ramadan (which is a great month of fasting), people are occupied with these two months and neglect Sha’ban. Read the rest of this entry
Reminder: The 10th of Muharram (‘Ashura) 1435 AH will fall on Thursday 14th, November 2013.
09 Muharram (Taasu’a) 1435 AH = Wednesday, 13th November 2013
10 Muharram (Ashura’) 1435 AH = Thursday, 14th November 2013
11 Muharram 1435 AH = Friday, 15th November 2013.
The Prophet,(sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam), said:
“For fasting the day of ‘Ashura, I hope that Allah will accept it as expiation for the year that went before.” [Reported by Muslim, 1976]
Don’t forget to observe Sawm on the day preceding Ashura which is Taasu’a (9th of Muharram) or succeeding it (the 11th of Muharram) to be different from the Jews.
Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “If I remain alive till the next year, I shall also observe fast on the ninth of Muharram (i.e. along with the tenth day.).”[Muslim]
Abu Hurairah (Radia Allaahu ‘anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (Salla Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said,
“The Best month for observing fasting next after Ramadan is the month of Allah, the Muharram, and the best Salaat next after the prescribed Salaat is Salaat at night (Tahajjud prayers).” [Muslim]
Muharram is one of the Sacred Months. This Hadith points out that fasting in the month of Muharram is better than any other month of the year after Ramadan.
The Most stressed days for fasting is ‘Ashoura (the 10th of Muharram).
He (Salla Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) was asked about observing fast on the tenth day of Muharram, and he replied,
“It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year.” [Muslim]
And He (Salla Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said:
“If I remain alive till the next year, I shall also observe fast on the ninth of Muharram.” [Muslim] Read the rest of this entry
Reported al-Bukhari that Umar bin al-Khaatab (Radhia-Allaahu ‘anhu) narrated: “I heard Allah’s Messenger (Salla-Allaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) saying:
إِنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ، وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى
“The reward of deeds depend on the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended.” [Al-Bukhari: 1/1/1]
As the Month of Ramadan is now at our doors (May Allah make us benefit from this blessed month) let us maximize our reward and remind ourselves of the multiple rewards we can achieve in this blessed month just by making righteous intentions!
“The matter of intention is business with Allah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala). Your rewards for performing good deeds depends on the multiple intentions you have for a certain deed. Read the rest of this entry
